HMRC. - Rangers and EBTs
« on: July 05, 2017, 20:49:56 PM »
Rangers lost an appeal in the Supreme Court over tax free loans to players and officials, the amounts of "loans" for each shown below (from BBC website) some big sums going out to a few of them, none of whom were deducted tax. Now this means nothing to "New Rangers" as they are now a new company (although they could have paid from their winnings from the Europa cup, oops, shit, ah well  :P  :fart2:)
The main issue will be that a number of English clubs are believed to have used EBTs to give players back Door payments, this ruling means that HMRC can now pursue them with a good chance of winning. How many clubs are involved, and can they afford it.
These are the Rangers staff the original was in a table format which hasn't carried across in this copy, so basically it reads as follows

what i am having trouble with is this dates back to rangers old co which is now defunct
they will probably be able to go at the old board members and ex players who benefitted from the scam
but the cost of pursuing it to the max would be cost prohibitive i would assume
Evertonians are born not manufactured,
we do not choose we are chosen,
those who understand do not need explanation,
those who don\'t understand don\'t matter.

I doubt the will get much mileage out of chasing the players or even Oldco, etc, what is important is that this case sets a precedent and HMRC will be able to chase any other club that has used EBTs, I understand that a few PL clubs may have done so, they are the ones the taxman will be interested in. Celtic did use an EBT for 1 player, but paid HMRC.
It\'s Celtic 1st, Celtic last and Celtic overall!
